Expressions of interest are invited by 17 May 2013.
The Boomerang Cup 2014 will run from January 9 – 23 and will involve a maximum of 32 teams of amateur players from Real Tennis Clubs. Teams of 5-8 players are guaranteed 3 pool matches of handicap doubles (1 set to 8) prior to finals play. The top 16 teams progress to the knock-out stage, whilst the unlucky teams will play in a Plate event!
The Royal Melbourne Tennis Club also offers the RMTC Handicap Doubles, also round-robin then knock-out, in two grades, at the same time as the Boomerang Cup. Pairs are guaranteed 3 matches. Teams may organise tours to the Hobart Club before the event, or a side-trip to Ballarat during the tournament. Billeting is offered. Non-playing partners can enjoy lawn tennis at the Australian Open, golf, cricket (the Ashes are on next summer) and numerous organised diversions.The RMTC is facing a heavier tournament schedule than usual in 2014 so if you are interested in playing could you please let us know ASAP so that we can confirm dates.
Next year will mark the 20th anniversary of the Boomerang so please direct your expressions of interest for individuals or teams to Tournament Directors, Owen Guest and Andrew Gould (using the email address below) by May 17 so that we may proceed.
Please respond ASAP as the RMTC is facing a heavier than usual tournament schedule in 2014 and we would like to confirm our list of tournaments and dates.
